My story

I never planned to teach grown-ups

I was teaching kids to draw and paint, and they were actually doing it by themselves. Then their parents saw what they were making and were genuinely shocked. And then they asked if I'd teach them too.

I had no idea how to teach adults, and I was petrified. But they really wanted me to, so I gave it a go.

I thought I'd just sit them down and guide them through a painting step by step. That's what adults want, right? It turned out to be really difficult, because they were missing the foundation. It was like building a house without one. They had gaps, so half the time they had no idea what I was telling them, and they felt like all they could do was copy exactly what I was doing. It was frustrating for them and frustrating for me.

So I tried something different. With the kids, I'd broken down every skill they needed into simple methods and a clear process. How to mix colours. How to paint a canvas. How to look at something and be able to draw it accurately. So I taught the adults those exact same methods and processes.

And they got it.

From there they were just practising, with me guiding them and giving them the support they needed as they kept going on that journey. And the more they practised, the better they got and the more they understood.

That's why I made the Ultimate Beginner's Course. So learning to draw and paint doesn't have to be annoying, you get the skills you actually need, and you stop thinking you're not talented or not artistic enough. Because in reality, anyone can.

The course

So what is the Ultimate Beginner's Course?

It's the foundation for learning to draw and paint, with all the different mediums. It gives you the methods and the process you need to draw and paint anything, whether you're a complete beginner or you've been at it a while and feel like there are gaps in your skills.

Most courses jump straight in and get you copying what the teacher paints. You end up with one nice painting and no idea how to make another one. This course does it the other way round. It teaches you how to actually look at something and be able to draw it, the method you need to do that, and how to train your brain to draw what you see and not what you think.

Draw what you see, not what you think.

You'll also learn the whole process of painting. How to set up your palette, how to mix colours, and how to paint on canvas.

It's practical and hands-on, all through art projects, not long theory lessons. By the end you'll have an overview of everything, so you can take those skills and go further, without any gaps in your knowledge.

Is this you?

Who it's for

This is for you if

  • You've always dreamed of being able to draw and paint, and you want a hobby that gives you some life
  • You want time for yourself, and you're ready to actually give it to yourself
  • You've hopped around different art classes and YouTube tutorials and still don't know where to start
  • You can follow a tutorial, but then you only know how to do that one painting
  • You want to understand what you're doing, not just copy it
  • You want a clear, step by step progression that's practical and hands-on, not long and theoretical
  • You want to draw and paint independently, whatever you want, whenever you want

This isn't for you if

  • You're not planning to actually sit down, get the supplies and do the lessons. Watching won't give you the skills. Doing them will.
  • You're expecting to be amazing after one project. Becoming an artist takes time. It's a journey, not overnight success.

This is the beginning. You start here, and then you keep going, practising and drawing and painting more, until you find your own style.

Before you decide

If you're hovering over the button

"Why do some people have it and some people don't?"

They don't. Art is a skill, not a talent. The people who can draw and paint were taught the methods, or they figured them out the long way. You're not missing a gene. You're missing the foundation, and that's exactly what this course gives you.

"I haven't picked up a paintbrush in years."

Good, you're in the right place. This is a beginner's course. It starts at the very beginning and builds from there, so it doesn't matter how long it's been.

"Why should I spend that much on myself?"

Because you're giving yourself time. And because the other option is spending years of your life trying to figure it out by yourself, hopping between YouTube videos and trying out all different things. This is all in one place, in the right order.

"I don't have time."

You've got lifetime access, so there's no rush. Lessons run from half an hour to an hour or two. Most of my students pick the same time each week and that becomes their art time. Bring down your box of supplies, set it on the table, and press play.

"I'll need to buy loads of supplies."

You'll need a few, yes. But you buy them once and keep them for ages after. Once you know the skills, you'll keep coming back to them, picking up the paint, the soft pastels, the charcoal, whenever you want to make something.

"I'm not techy."

You don't need to be. Go into the course portal, it's all there. Click on the lesson you want and follow along.

"Will this actually work for me?"

I've taught it to loads and loads of women, kids and teens, and it's worked for everyone, because it's really, really simple. I've broken it down into the simplest methods and process that anyone can follow. Then you can use that method again and again, whenever you want to draw or paint.
